Saturday, April 1st, 2017: Saturday of Service Packing Event
10:00 AM - 4:00 PM at Wade Pioneer and Red Cat Rooms
This was our second annual Spring Packing Event! This year, volunteers ranging from Greeks looking for service hours, to alumni looking to give back, to every type of CWRU student came out to help pack meals which we gave to a local food bank. This event was held as an option for CCEL's Spring 2017 Saturday of Service. We really enjoyed seeing this diverse set of volunteers come together to give back to their community.
Friday, February 24th, 2017: Chocolate Banquet
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Wyant Varsity Club
Our annual fundraiser featured another great performance by Speakeasy! Guests filled up on pasta, salad, and breadsticks from a local restaurant, La Trattoria before turning to the chocolate feast we made ourselves. Desserts included cookies, brownies, cakes, and the legendary chocolate fountain. No worries, we made sure the left overs all went to a worthy cause!
Thursday, January 26th, 2017: General Body Meeting
5:30 PM - 6:30 PM at Tink Gaming Room
We want to make sure everyone who wants to join feels included and up to date on Kids Against Hunger's initiatives! We served some food from Simply Greek and focused on planning our monthly Soup Kitchen trips and our Chocolate Banquet. We were really happy to see new members so active in these conversations!
Saturday, November 19th, 2017: Fall Snack Pack
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Wade Pioneer Room
For our fall event, we assembled nutritious snacks including fresh fruit, milk, nuts, and granola for children! We were happy to give Greeks service hours, and for all the support we received from the rest of the community.
Saturday, April 16th, 2016: Spring Snack Pack

We held our first ever Snack Pack as part of CWRU's Food Week! Our volunteers helped us assemble nutritious snacks for food insecure children in Cleveland. We are proud to have packed meals including fresh fruit, milk, nuts, and granola, so that students and children in Cleveland have the healthy food they need to succeed!
Friday, February 5th: Chocolate Banquet
6:30 PM - 8:30 PM at Thwing Ballroom
To raise money for hunger initiatives in the Cleveland area, we sold tickets to our annual Chocolate Banquet. We got dinner catered by a local Italian restaurant, and, as promised, gave away a ton of chocolate desserts. A fan favorite, the chocolate fountain, was a highlight of the night!
Saturday, Nov 7th, 2015: Saturday of Service Packing Event
8:00 AM - 7:00 PM in CWRU's Carlton Commons
The Packing Event was hosted in collaboration with CCEL for the CWRU's Saturday Day of Service. Volunteers helped package our bulk meal ingredients of soy, rice, dehydrated vegetables, and vitamin powder into distributed meal bags. These meals were then donated to the Cleveland Food Bank to be distributed to soup kitchens, shelters, etc in the Greater Cleveland area. A special simulation was held during each shift to better understand the struggles felt by families balancing their checkbook and their weekly food budget.
Thanks to the help of our generous volunteers, KAH Cleveland packed over 35,000 meals! Over 200 volunteers took time out of their schedules to help us accomplish this goal, enjoying a modest reward of pizza during each shift. Thanks to all for giving back!
March 2015 Saturday of Service Packing Event
9:00 am - 7:30 pm in Carlton Commons at Case Western Reserve University
Hosted in collaboration with CCEL for the Saturday Day of Service. Volunteers helped package our bulk meal ingredients of soy, rice, dehydrated vegetables, and vitamin powder into individual bags for distribution. These meals were then donated to the Cleveland Food Bank to be given to soup kitchens, shelters, etc. in the Greater Cleveland area.
For this Spring 2015 semester, we exceeded out goal of 50,000 meals to commemorate out founders' graduation from CWRU, increasing our total number of packed meals to over 200,000. Volunteers were served pizza at the event as a thank-you for their service.
February 28th, 2015 Cleveland Food Bank Volunteer Opportunity
7:45 am - 11:45 am at the Cleveland Food Bank
Volunteers got a chance to see the food bank's warehouse and take part in its operations by helping sort and organize meals to be sent out.
The Greater Cleveland Food Bank has provided 45 million meals in the past year in Cuyahoga, Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, Ashland and Richland counties. The Food Bank provides food and other critical grocery products annually to more than 750 local food pantries, hot meal programs, shelters, mobile pantries, programs for the elderly and other nonprofit agencies. Friday, February 6th, 2015: Hunger Benefit Banquet
6:30 pm - 8:30 pm in the Tinkham Veale University Center at Case Western Reserve University
At our sold-out banquet, guests indulged in catered meals from La Trattoria followed by a selection of chocolate desserts including chocolate cake, a fondue station, s'more bars to name a few. Director of Cleveland's own Soup Kitchen on Wade Ave. Sandra Beard spoke about her own experience working in the kitchen. The DJ got our guests moving with some music before the night concluded with the announcement of our dessert leftover winners (of course we wouldn't let our baking efforts go to waste): CWRU's Delta Gamma with the highest number of sisters in attendance. Thanks to all those who came, told their peers, and had a great time. All proceeds went funding KAH's March 2015 packing event.
Fall 2014 Packing Event - November
Numerous Greek Life groups and individuals looking to lend a helping hand came out to take part in packing 50,000 meals during the Fall Saturday of Service. Thanks to all and we hope to see you again at our future events!
Freerice.com Celebration - October
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Freerice competition, we donated 1,117,370 grains of rice!
The top contributor won a $25.00 Melt gift card.This event took place in October, and ended on the 31st at 11:59 pm.
It was then followed by a celebration on Nov. 1st.
Paulding Packing Event - September
Thanks to our partner St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Paulding, Ohio whose 50+ volunteers helped us pack over 15,000 meals for deserving families, bringing our total of meals packed to over 150,000!
Video Game Tournament - April 19th, 2014
Kids Against Hunger Cleveland partnered with several of the computer gamers on Case's campus to hold the first Kids Against Hunger Video Game Tournament. Gamers from all over the Case community gathered in teams to test their mantle at Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft and League of Legends. After a long day of battle (and, of course, fun and games) victors were named. Best of all, $50 was raised for Kids Against Hunger.
Spring 2014 Packing Event - March
Kids Against Hunger packed 37,000 meals for the Spring Saturday of Service in 2014. With the help of all our campus and community partners, we surpassed our goal of 135,000 meals for the Cleveland area!
Fall 2013 Packing Event - November
Kids Against Hunger packed 20,000 meals in our Fall Saturday of Service. With the help of all our campus and community partners, we have officially hit the 100,000 meal milestone! This is an exciting achievement, and we hope to hit 1,000,000 meals within the next 5 years!
Spring 2013 Packing Event - March
Kids Against Hunger packed 30,000 meals for the Spring Saturday of Service in 2013. With the help of all our campus and community partners, we hit 80,000 meals packed for the Cleveland area in the last 1.5 years!
CWRU 1st Annual Mock Oscars - March 29th
Kids Against Hunger hosted a Mock Oscars, with categories various students could win. The funds raised from this event went towards Kids Against Hunger's event the following semester.
Case & Community Packing Event
The Case Community Packing Event took place on Saturday of Service, on Nov. 10th.
We had over 75 volunteers. Including many sorority and fraternity members, and members of the Case Varsity Track & Field Team. Together we packed 24,000 meals, bringing our total meals packed to 52,000 meals! Keep up the good work everyone!
