Who We Are
Overview
Kids Against Hunger is a national organization started in 1999 under the vision of our founder Richard Proudfit. He dreamed of a world "where everyone was fed," and that dream is what keeps chapters like the one at Case Western Reserve University going strong.
Here in Cleveland, KAH strives to be a key supplier of nutritious meals for local need. Through various partners like the Cleveland Food Bank, KAH Cleveland has served over 200,000 of our packaged meals. To learn more about our packaged food, please visit our national website.
Our costs are approximately $0.15 per serving, and with virtually no overhead, we continue to provide for thousands in need. Please contact us if you would like to learn about how you can get involved and help us make a difference!
Local Chapter Founding
The Cleveland chapter of Kids Against Hunger was founded in the fall of 2011 by Aditya Rengaswamy. Once an Executive Committee was formed, the members raised money during the fall and winter of 2011-12 in preparation for the first packing event. The first event took place on April 14, 2012 and produced over 28,000 meals that were donated to the Cleveland Food Bank and other community organizations.
Our Goals
Kids Against Hunger Cleveland aims to reduce the problem of hunger in the greater Cleveland area. We believe the growing problem of world hunger can be solved with sustainable solutions for local communities. Our goal is to pack at least 500,000 meals in the next three years by hosting multiple packing events every year. As a student-run organization, we hope to recruit new members every year who are driven by a passion for service.
